Unlocking Your Body’s Full Potential

Caring for your health is a journey and, just as no two people are the same, no two journeys are the same.  This means each individual person has their own body that will have their own individual issues that require customized care.

The Custom Care and Wellness motto is, unlocking your body’s full potential”, which is accomplished by spending as much time as needed with each patient to listen to their health concerns, health goals, and collaboratively developing a plan of action to achieve those.

Being an independent Family Nurse Practitioner allows me to take this needed time with patients and allows me to provide alternative healthcare options, without a large corporate overhead directing how care is provided to patients, nor insurance companies dictating unreasonable charges.  This means being able to bring every day and potentially life changing treatment options to all patients at a fair and reasonable price.

SERVICES

PRP is a special treatment using part of your own blood to treat acute & chronic musculoskeletal injuries, accelerating the natural healing process.  Ultrasound guidance is used to ensure accurate placement of the PRP. No blind jabbing into large joints!  Some of the conditions commonly treated with PRP are: Joint pain, Osteoarthritis, Plantar Fasciitis, Rotator Cuff Tendonitis, Tennis Elbow/Golfer’s Elbow, and other injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.

The sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) nerve block has been reported to be successful in the relief of a wide variety of different forms of headache. However, past techniques utilized for this block are unreliable, complicated, and painful, which has led to the treatment being underutilized.

The good news is a newly FDA cleared nasal applicator device has been developed to deliver small amounts of anesthetic solution precisely to the inner most nasal pathway which includes the sphenopalatine foramen and nerve ending.  This safe, instant, accurate access to the sphenopalatine nerve ending allows treatments to be completed in less than a minute, with many patients reporting the start of pain relief within 15 minutes of treatment.  Some of the common headache types treated with an SPG block are: Tension Headache, Cluster Headaches, Post Concussion Headache, and Migraine Headache (with or without Aura).

Ever have a loved one rub your shoulders or back and tell you that you have “knots” back there?  Those ‘knots’ are tight bands of muscles that are called trigger points, and they arise from muscle injury, strain, overuse, misaligned use, or a sudden injury (like whiplash or a fall).  These trigger points become inflamed and can develop scar tissue, which can cause irritation to the nerves surrounding them, leading to referred pain and limited range of motion.  By injecting these trigger points with fluid, the scar tissue is broken up and the muscle fibers are more easily able to begin repairing itself.

As a Family Nurse Practitioner, I’m able to see patients for Primary Care, Well Child Examinations, and Physicals for sports, scouts, or other clubs.  I’m also available to see patients for same day visit needs such as sore throat, fever, ear or eye pain, cough, nasal congestion, allergies, viral infections and much more.  Rapid testing in clinic is also available for many common illnesses.

With access to LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, patients can have their blood drawn and sent for a wide variety of needed tests, including TB Gold.  TB skin tests are also available.

Getting healthy and staying healthy is the name of the game!  Myer’s cocktail IV infusion is the most popular supplementation, however there are several other supplements that can be given to help boost your immune system, including Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Zinc, Glutathione, and NAD+ to name a few!

CHELSEA KURTZ

Chelsea Kurtz, MSN, APNP, FNP-C, has over 15 years of experience in the medical field including adult and pediatric primary care, acute care, trauma/emergency medical care, lactation counseling, and orthopedics, with certifications in advanced ultrasound guided injections.

She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Marian University, her Masters of Science in Nursing from Concordia University, and now enjoys working as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Her passion for identifying the root cause of patient issues and developing individualized treatment plans has led her to pursue a more holistic alternative medicine approach that allows patients to take control of their health care and wellness.  This often involves finding specific ways a person’s body can be harnessed to heal and regenerate itself.  Specializing in Platelet-Rich Plasma injections (PRP), along with her many years of patient care experience, Chelsea enjoys taking the time to get to know each patient individually, learning their healthcare concerns, their health goals, and collaboratively deciding what the most appropriate options are to meet those.

When not in the clinic, Chelsea enjoys a multitude of outdoor activities, including fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, painting, and most of all spending time with her husband, son, and hound dog, Penny.
